We officially became a part of Brazil Gospel Fellowship Mission in September of 1985, and arrived in Northeast Brazil on October 27, 1986

From October 1986 to February 1988 we spent our time studying Portuguese in language school.

February 1988 to April 1989 saw us serving in the city of Mombaça, caring for the Bible church while co-workers Paul and Elaine Syers were on furlough.

April 1989 to May 1991 we ministered in the mission guest home in Fortaleza.

July 1991 to 1993 we helped at Silver Lake Bible Camp in Poço Doce and from 1993 to 1999 Jerry served as Director of the Silver Lake Bible Camp.

From 1999 to the present we have been ministering at the Antioch Bible Institute.

We are utilizing Brazilian pastors as teachers at ABI; several of these are recent graduates from the school. Our goal would be to someday a Brazilian could take over Director of the Bible Institute. We have been gradually increasing tuition costs for students so that eventually income from the student fees would support the school.

It’s a privilege to be a part the church-planting ministries here in Brazil, encouraging Brazilians believers and reaching out to those who don’t know Christ as Savior. We pastored the Sambaiba Bible Church for a number of years, and many of our ABI students gained leadership skills as they served alongside of us in this church. We have recently turned this ministry over to one of the ABI graduates to be its full time pastor. We are looking to the Lord for direction where we can be involved in church-planting opportunities in our area of Northeast Brazil, while we continue with the Bible Institute ministry.

All of our four children were born in Brazil and are Brazilian citizens. Only the youngest Jared (15) is still at home. Our three daughters are in the USA at this time. Patrice, our first born, lives and works in Buhler, Kansas. Angie, our second, and her husband Isaac Stanley are at home in SD near Cornerstone Bible Institute, where our youngest daughter, Melissa, is studying.
