Philip and Rachel Stucky both accepted Christ as their Savior at a young age and were open to the Lord’s leading in their lives, attending Western Baptist College in Salem, Oregon, to better prepare themselves to serve Him.  They met and were married in Salem, after which they went to Dallas Theological Seminary, where Philip received his Master’s degree in Biblical Studies. They returned to Salem, Oregon, where Philip was Pastor of Outreach at Heritage Baptist Fellowship for a year.  They were accepted as missionaries with the Brazil Gospel Fellowship Mission in 1979, arriving in Fortaleza, Brazil, in 1980.  Philip continued his studies at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, where he received a Master's degree in Theology, and is currently completing his doctoral studies in missiology at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Boston.  They have 3 grown sons--Andrew, Luke and Mark.  Andrew has completed his studies at Oregon State University in computer programming and married Erin Gardner on July 8, 2006; they live in Salem.  Luke is service manager for Day Heating Company and married Amanda Olsen on December 15, 2007; they also reside in Salem.  Mark is completing his studies at the Master's College in Los Angeles and is looking to serve the Lord as a missionary in south Brazil with Philip and Rachel.

Philip and Rachel's two major ministries in Brazil have been church planting and leadership training.  They have been involved in building up and transitioning five churches to Brazilian pastors.  Philip has also directed the mission’s Theological Education by Extension program and the SIBIMA Seminary, which have been transitioned into the hands of competent Brazilian leadership.  After 25 years of ministry in Fortaleza, they will now be opening a new field of ministry in South Brazil.  They are presently in the city of Maceio in Northeast Brazil planting a church in Village Campestre and helping establish a Bible Institute there to train future pastors, missionaries and church leaders, while at the same time forming a church planting team for South Brazil.  Their move to South Brazil is planned for July of 2009.  They would appreciate your prayers on their behalf for wisdom and effectiveness in their new ministry roles and that their sons would grow in their walk with God and follow His will for their lives.
