Jerry was born and raised in the Newton, Kansas area and accepted the Lord as his Saviour after his last year in college. Bev grew up in Lustre, Montana and she received Christ as Saviour as a young child. They met in Kansas City in 1983 and were married in May, 1985. Both of them felt the Lord directing them to missions – Jerry did a short-term mission assignment in Brazil in 1983 and Bev had worked for five years at Gospel Missionary Union (AVANT) in Kansas City. Six months after they were married they began their deputation ministry and in October 1986 they arrived in Brazil eager to serve the Lord!

Their first ministry assignment after a year of language school was in the town of Mombaça – about 5 hours southwest from the capital city of Fortaleza. After a year there filling in for Paul and Elaine Syers, they served in the Mission Guest Home for one year.

Their next ministry was serving at Silver Lake Bible Camp where they worked from 1991-1999.

In 2000 they began their present ministry at Antioch Bible Institute, which has as its goal training and preparing men for the pastorate and ladies for being effective spiritual leaders in the local church.

Jerry has also been serving as pastor at the Sambaiba Bible Church about 15 minutes away from the Bible Institute.
